FOR THE FIRST TIME, ASTANA WILL HOST A FENCING WORLD CUP STAGE
For the first time in its history, the Republic of Kazakhstan will host a stage of the Fencing World Cup in épée — one of the key tournaments of the International Fencing Federation (FIE).
The competition will take place from March 26 to 29 in Astana at the Qazaqstan Athletics Sports Complex. More than 600 athletes from 96 countries around the world will take part in the tournament.
The world’s strongest épée fencers will compete for medals in individual and team events among men and women.
The Kazakhstan men’s national team will include leading domestic athletes: Ruslan Kurbanov, Elmir Alimzhanov, Yerlik Sertay, Kirill Prokhodov, and Vadim Sharlaimov. In total, up to 30 athletes will represent the country in each discipline — both among men and women.
Hosting a World Cup stage in Astana confirms the high level of trust from the international sports community and strengthens Kazakhstan’s image as a reliable venue for major international competitions.
We invite all residents and guests of the capital to support the athletes and become part of this large-scale sporting event.
